The very enjoyable 55th Anniversary of the Hike-in is now history too. The weather was very pleasant. We had over 140 bicyclists use the bicycle corral provided by Cascade Bicycle Club . The mini hike in had 115 children with their parents complete the event.
Thanks to Seattle Parks Foundation, The Mountaineers, Seattle Streets Alliance, 350 Seattle, and Cascade Bicycle Club for tabling at the event.
Thanks to our bands: Best and Uncle Ron’s Band
Thanks to our speakers: Merrill Hille, Sandy Wood, Michele Finnegan, Tyler Vasquez, and Kristen Milliron. They provided some great history and current perspective regarding the Burke-Gilman Trail.
As we heard from all the speakers getting projects done is a long process. It is going to take all of us to continue to be heard to get the Burke-Gilman Trail modernized before the end of this decade!
You can do this is three ways.
First sign our petition to our local elected officials to increase the spending on the Burke-Gilman Trail.
Second buy a jersey to show the world your support and enjoy a very wearing a very nice jersey. The current store is open until 9/21.
Third make a donation so we can fund our efforts to communicate about and improve the trail.
We have acquired FixTheBurkeGilman.org as a second domain name to protect our brand and position for the long term effort.
Our home page is now a Blog post. Watch this page for updates.
