Doing some research on the relationship between King County and the City of Seattle on management and funding of the Burke-Gilman Trail, I found The 2011 King County Trail Redevelopment project PDF. This document communicated a massive overhaul of the aging, heavily-congested county segments funded by the voter-approved 2008–2013 Parks Expansion Levy.

Looking back at these 15-year-old King County milestones reveals a stark, frustrating contrast just across the city limits: while the County aggressively modernized its infrastructure to resolve urgent safety issues, the City of Seattle has largely left its own 48-year-old segments in Northeast Seattle to decay.
